Last week, we were honoured to attend the sold out YWCA Metro Vancouver Women of Distinction Awards and to share a table with Global TV.  As female entrepreneurs ourselves, we especially value recognizing women for their passionate work.  All the nominees work to enrich their communities through their creativity and vision in areas such as the arts, culture, education, environment, business, and more.  Although their background and aspirations vary, they share the passion for improving opportunities for women and children.

In addition to being nominated within a specific category, each nominee was eligible for the Connecting the Community Award in one of five areas: Early Learning and Child Care, Reducing Child Poverty, Safe and Affordable Housing, Healthy Choices for Youth, and Preventing Violence Against Women.  These categories exemplify the YWCA’s goals.

Recognizing women who are driving positive change for women and girls and employers who encourage employees to balance the demands and rewards of work, family, and community, the event was certainly inspiring.  We were proud to be silver sponsors.
