World Cup Celebrations in Steveston
Football fever has hit Steveston! Spearheaded by Bean and Beyond owner Davood Khatami, whose enthusiasm is infectious, the World Cup beat can be seen and heard throughout the village.
Many of our favourite merchants are participating to represent one of the thirty two nations participating in this year’s World Cup. With every nation represented by their own pavilion, you are sure to find your team.
Visit worldcupsteveston.com or download the Steveston Village app to be sure you do not miss your nation’s day. Every nation will have one! D-Original Sausage Haus kicked things off June 12th with German sausages and an accordion player. A chalk artist made beautiful flags for Germany and Greece (at the neighbouring Greece pavillion The Sweet Spot).
An extra fun bonus for the kid (by age and / or heart!) – Steveston World Cup Village passports are available and each pavilion has stickers to “stamp” your passport. Reminds us of our Expo 86 passports. It was fun to watch children rushing in to shops with their passports this past weekend. Passports are available for $5 at most participating businesses.
Sadly, one of our teams is off to an unexpectedly poor start but when you are cheering for everyone, someone is bound to lose!
